Eamonn Darcy, still seeking his maiden win as a senior, shares third place after the second round of the Seniors Tour Spanish Open in Valencia.
Darcy followed up yesterday's opening 67 by carding a round of 70 to move to seven-under, six behind runaway leader Gordon J Brand.
Sam Torrance stormed into second place as he aims to wrap up back-to-back European Seniors Tour Order of Merit titles.
A second successive round of four under par 68 moved Torrance from a share of sixth place at the start of play and into sole charge of second spot on eight-under.
Brand added a 66 to his opening 65 to set the lead at 13-under par 131, but Torrance still believes he can catch the Englishman during Sunday's final round at Sergio Garcia's home course of Club de Golf Mediterráneo, north of Valencia.
