Daryaba gave jockey Gerald Mosse his fifth victory in the Prix de Diane Hermes (French Oaks) with a scintillating pillar-to-post success at Chantilly yesterday.

The victory, a boost for stable companion Sendawar's chances in tomorrow's St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, also continued the remarkable record of owner the Aga Khan and his trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre in the race. It was a third consecutive victory for them in the French fillies' Classic.

The three British challengers never threatened to emulate the win of Capri (Kieren Fallon) in the Grande Prix de Chantilly earlier in the afternoon, with Godolphin's Calando eighth, John Dunlop's Nasheed 10th and John Gosden's Apple Of Kent last of the 13 runners.

Mosse said: "The trainer told me to ride her the way I felt. There was no pace on, so off I went in front."
