The British Horse Trials Association have taken steps to reduce the speed on cross-country courses following the fifth fatality in four months.

Scots-born Peter McLean (20), died after being crushed under his horse at Somerleyton Hall, Suffolk, last weekend.

Mike Tucker of the cross-country committee said: "It is a question of whether time pressure is a contributory factor.
