Carnew ... 1-10 St Partick's ... 1-10 A goal just seconds from the end of normal time by midfielder Gary Deehan earned St Patrick's a deserved draw with favourites Carnew in the Wicklow senior hurling championship final at Aughrim yesterday.
St Patrick's, who were trailing by five points (1-9 to 0-7) with just 12 minutes remaining, came with a tremendous rally in the closing stages to put the final to a replay on September 19th or 20th.
In this period Carnew were held to just one point by Railway Cup player Don Hyland as Michael O'Brien and Seanie O'Brien (two) fired over vital points before Gary Deehan's late, late equaliser.
Three minutes earlier Carnew goalkeeper Ted Kennedy had to bring off a vital save when Alan Tiernan whipped on a ground ball from close range after good work by Casey O'Brien and Denis O'Brien.
