Presentation College, Bray bravely defended a flimsy two-point lead for most of the second half yesterday to win a place in the quarter-finals.

St Andrew's dominated the forward tussles, the Bray half-backs and three-quarters eventually called the tune.

The killing blow came from a Killian Cassoni try midway through the second half. The move started with a fine break by outstanding number eight Luke Mantle, who led his back row superbly.

St Andrew's star player Paul Devlin scored a try in each half, and his front-row partners, Ian Pearson and Luke Woods, kept Pres contained in the tight.

The much younger Pres side led 10-8 at half-time after their captain Alex O'Sullivan had kicked a penalty and had converted a superb try from winger Noel Hall.
