Women's Football: Michelle Delaney's injury-time point earned reigning champions Galway a late reprieve as they salvaged a 2-11 to 3-8 draw against Cork in an exciting All-Ireland women's minor football final at the Gaelic Grounds yesterday.

Less than two minutes earlier, the Connacht side looked a safe bet to retain their title when Delaney gave them a two-point advantage, 2-10 to 2-8, but Rhona Buckley then struck a goal for Cork from close range.

In the opening half, goals from Buckley and Amanda Murphy helped earn Cork a 2-1 to 0-3 lead. However, Galway went on to show that they were also capable of scoring goals.

Aoife Kelly was on hand to flick the ball to the net and Delaney added a second to put the holders in the driving seat. Barbara Hannon scored a a point to stretch their lead but Murphy (2) and Rhona Buckley replied to leave just one between the sides at the break, 2-6 to 2-5.
