FAI CUP FOURTH ROUND/ Kildare County 0 Derry City 6:DERRY CITY cruised into the quarter-finals of the FAI Cup when easily dismissing the challenge of Kildare County at the Brandywell last night.

Leading 3-0 at the break, the game was effectively over as a contest and Stephen Kenny's men could easily have doubled that figure at the interval.

Delighted to host the game following the unavailability of Kildare's Station Road home, Derry's pace on the flanks tore the visitors to shreds and it was no surprise when Derry broke the deadlock after just seven minutes.

The lively Niall McGinn worked his way in from the left and his low centre was tapped home by Thomas Stewart.

Six minutes later Derry doubled their lead when Clive Delaney headed Kevin Deery's corner powerfully home. And the same player made it 3-0 on the half-hour, Delaney squeezing the ball home at the back post following Eddie McCallion's low cross.

After the break, Derry simply kept the ball and while they wasted further clearcut chances, they had to wait until the final 10 minutes to increase their lead further. Stewart netted his second of the night to make it 4-0 in the 80th minute and two minutes later substitute, Mark Farren, added number five. It was left to Farren late on to complete the rout.
