Sligo Rovers 0 Derry City 4: DERRY CITY cruised to an easy win over outclassed Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds last night.
Second-half goals from David Scullion, Peter Hutton and two from substitute Mark Farren gave Derry a massive boost ahead of Saturday night’s FAI fourth-round tie between the sides, also in Sligo.
Scullion gave Derry the lead after 54 minutes, heading home from Steven Gray’s cross. Sligo’s Eoin Doyle blasted the ball over the Derry bar before Hutton doubled Derry’s lead after 64 minutes, following a Scullion corner-kick.
Farren availed of a terrible mix-up in the Sligo defence in the 74th minute to chip home goal number three and he added his second goal to complete the scoring seven minutes from time.
