THE MEETING of Monkstuwn and City of Derry at Sydney Parade on Saturday offers the visitors the chance to undo the disappointment of the last two seasons.
Having flirted with promotion only to be dumped at the crucial stage, they at least have that much already in the bag; to make the jump as champions, however, would be ideal compensation.
With that in mind their Ulster pairing of Steve Smyth and Ian Orr have hit form in the last few weeks, and both will need to continue in that vein against Monkstown.
The mid-table battle, however, is purely about promotion, and those who squeeze into the final six over the last two rounds of the league won't be concerned about their placing.
With DLSP, Skerries and Bohemians all level on nine points, and then UCC and Waterpark just a point behind, the promotion issue won't be settled until the last round.
Skerries and Waterpark have selected for the weekend. The former will have Eamonn Darcy in the second row for the injured Mick Kumnig as they travel to Bangor. Waterpark will be at full strength for their tie with UCC.
UCD have made a change in the front row for the trip to Bohemians; John O'Sullivan returns at hooker while James Stone keeps his place on the wing.
In Division Four Trinity will be keen to recapture their good form against Collegians, who themselves have already had a reasonable season with a place in the Ulster cup semi-finals still to come. They may also be bound for Division Three, depending on how the logistics of the new structure pan out. Currently it appears that there will again be third and fourth divisions next season.
Portadown will be at full strength for their match against CIYMS.
