Bohemians 0 Derry C 2:GOALS FROM Daniel Lafferty and James McClean either side of half-time ensured Derry City maintained their unbeaten run at Dalymount Park last night.
In a tempestuous encounter, Bohemians were reduced to 10 men in the 43rd minute after Keith Buckley was shown a straight red, while manager Pat Fenlon was sent to the stands.
Buckley saw red after linesman Rafal Pieper adjudged that the 18-year old had committed a dangerous tackle on Lafferty.
Fenlon spent most of the second half in the TV gantry having also seen red late in the half and City delivering a killer blow soon afterwards with the opening goal.
Lafferty punished Bohs in first -half injury time when the midfielder headed home a free-kick from Kevin Deery at the far post.
It brought an end to an opening half that saw six cards dished out, including Buckley’s red.
Derry went on to extend their lead two minutes after the restart through McClean. The 22-year-old latched onto a pass from Eamon Zayed before finishing the ball to the net to register his fifth goal of the season.
The hosts were awarded a penalty six minutes from time when referee Pádraig Sutton spotted a a foul on Killian Brennan. However, Brennan’s subsequent spot-kick hit the crossbar and Anto Flood’s headed effort from the rebound produced a similar result.
Robert Bayly also fired a shot straight into the hands of Derry goalkeeper Gerard Doherty late on .
