Racing: The Christy Roche-trained Desert Fantasy produced a career best performance to take the feature Galway Radisson SAS Hotel Handicap on the final day's action at the Galway Festival yesterday.

Tom Queally's mount, who went up 26lb for winning at the Curragh at the end of June, jumped off in mid-division before improving to track the leaders two furlongs out. In the straight he swept by the front-running Mukammal and eventually came home 2½ lengths clear of Senators Alibi.

The starting stalls were not used for any of the day's flat races following an incident on Saturday when one of the stalls failed to open in the Nursery.

Red Knight rounded off a great day for Roche when he won the concluding Bumper in the hands of his son Padraig.

Doonaree became the only horse two record two victories at the festival when he shrugged off the burden of top weight to win the Aghadoe Heights Hotel Handicap Hurdle. Barry Geraghty's mount was held up in rear before making rapid progress to track the leaders at the third last hurdle. Turning for home, he eased past Jonjoe's Express after jumping the last for a two-length victory.
