Desert Fox snatches it

Desert Fox landed the featured Golden EBF Race at Tipperary yesterday evening. Christy Roche produced the son of Sadler's Wells with a late challenge on the stand side to deny odds-on Razik and long-time leader Hallucination by two short heads.

Dermot Weld continued his superb run this season when saddling another double in Aljjawarih and Early Memory.

Aljjawarih showed a nice turn of foot when sprinting clear inside the final furlong to beat Festival Song by three and a half lengths in the opening Elm Maiden, while Michael Kinane, also aboard Early Memory, made all to beat the fast-finishing Night Arcade by half a length in the Roscrea Maiden.

Talented claimer Barry Geraghty picked up a six-day suspension (beginning on May 31st) for attempting to weigh out with an unapproved back protector in the Cashel Handicap Hurdle. Victory in this three-mile event went to outsider Carnacreeva Gane, although the whole complexion of the race changed when Charlie Swan's mount Glorious Gale fell while in front four out and brought down Altregan Boy, Muskerry King and Lockbeg Lass. Swan, who felt a bit stiff afterwards, stood himself down for the remainder of the meeting, while Altregan Boy's rider Jason Maguire also missed out on two mounts.

The handsome Rosselli is one of the better ones judged on his sparkling debut in the Northern Racing Novice Stakes.
