Dettori goes for Million

Allied Forces is the sole European runner in the Grade One Arlington Million in Chicago tomorrow

Allied Forces is the sole European runner in the Grade One Arlington Million in Chicago tomorrow. Local odds compilers rate the Goldolphin-trained mount of Frankie Dettori - a Grade Two winner in America last season - an 8 to 1 shot in a field of nine. Sandpit, the beaten favourite in the last runnings of the race, is the 5 to 2 market leader. The Arlington International Festival also sees the Dance Design team of Dermot Weld and Mick Kinane in action in the Grade One Secreteriat Stakes with Casey Tibbs.

David Loder, victorious last year with Bahamian Bounty in the Morny Piaget at Deauville, runs his Coventry Stakes second, Desert Prince (Kieren Fallon), in the Group One sprint tomorrow.

The second foreign runner is Aidan O'Brien's Heeremandi, who was the beaten favourite in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. John Reid rides the Irish filly.

Andre Fabre's Xaar is expected to start favourite as he attempts to emulate his sire, Zafonic, successful in the race in 1992.
