ULSTER MFC Armagh 2-9 Derry 2-8:TWO LATE goals from Aaron Devlin weren't enough to secure a replay for Derry as Armagh hung on for a one-point victory in a game that they initially seemed to have wrapped up early in the second half.
A brace of major scores from full forward Paul McGeown had seen Armagh lead by 2-9 to 0-8 with one minute of regulation time remaining, but Devlin hammered two pile drivers to see the visitors looking mightily relieved at the final whistle.
Derry started brightly and led when Benny Quigg pointed from 30 metres, but were rocked by a goal on nine minutes.
The third quarter would prove decisive as Armagh took over and built up a cushion that would prove sufficient. Barry Seeley started the onslaught kicking a free from the right which was followed by a point from McGeown.
When a flowing move finished with McGeown sliding home his second goal on 38 minutes Armagh led by 2-5 to 0-5 and Derry looked a beaten side.
