DONCASTER'S clerk of the course Charlie Moore was happy with the entries made yesterday for Saturday's rearranged £30,000 added Pertemps Great Yorkshire contest. The 21 horses put in the race feature 10 of the five day acceptors for the original event, including Addington Boy, Dextra Dove and Too good to Be True who were each prominent in ante post betting in January.

"I am delighted with the entry as Cheltenham is looming and many horses will sidestep this Saturday," Moore said.

"I know Simon Earle was very keen that we re ran the race for Dextra Dove. And Too good To Be True will be able to run this time. He would have had to miss the race in January and I know his owner Jim McGrath was very upset."

When the weights are published today, Addington Boy and Dextra Dove are both likely to be faced with a stiffer task on Saturday than had the race been staged in January. The pair have risen 5lb and 4lb respectively in the official handicap since the original weights were framed. Dextra Dove, after seven successive win, was beaten a short head at Newbury on his most recent start.

But Too good To Be True remains on the same mark and Moore suggested. He could be well in at the weights.

His jockey Lorcan Wyer is particularly glad the race has been rearranged. "I was serving a four day ban at the time of the original race so I am glad to get a second crack at it," he said.

"Too good To Be True had a bruised foot then but he is back in full work and we are very happy with him. He seems in good form and I am looking forward to Saturday as long as the ground doesn't dry out too much."

Doncaster are considering making the switch of the race from January to March permanent. This year's race has been salvaged from the card abandoned on January 27th.

"We'll see how it goes this year but Doncaster are looking at leaving the race in March, said the clerk of the course.

"This is a very dull weekend otherwise and Channel 4 will be able to televise it in full, whereas in January it has to share with Cheltenham.

"And you are far less likely to fall foul of the weather in the first week of March than in January.

Yesterday's meeting at Newcastle was called off following a morning inspection. The fixture had survived weekend scares caused by partial waterlogging but was eventually abandoned due to frost.
