BEATEN narrowly by Slightly Smooth at Down Royal a month ago, the Aidan O'Brien-trained Distinctly West had over six lengths to spare when turning the tables at Gowran Park recently.
That success followed his first win at Galway where he beat stable companion Peace Melody. He appears to be on the upgrade and will be expected to complete his hat-trick in this evening's Curraghboy Nursery at Roscommon.
A close-up third behind Really Chuffed at Fairyhouse, top weight Axel Foley has prospects but may not beat Distinctly West.
Tryfirion, who overcame jumping errors to win courageously at Galway, will take beating in the Roscommon Handicap Chase. In finishing fifth in the Galway Plate, he had Swallows Nest Ii lengths adrift. The latter was hampered at the second last but was beaten at the time. Friday The Thirteenth was a very easy winner at Sligo but I expect Tryfirion to win.
Victor Bowens also runs Preceptor with a chance in the Castle Handicap Hurdle. He was well beaten in a novice hurdle at Galway but had earlier won his maiden hurdle over this course and followed up by winning a handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe.
Sudden Storm may not confirm Kilbeggan placings with Dundock Wood, but the choice is Wicklow Way, successful over this distance at Fairyhouse in May.
There may not be much to choose between Song Of the Sword and Rose Of Rapture in the International Race, with the John Oxx-trained Rose Of Rapture, who landed odds with ease in a Fairyhouse maiden, slightly preferred.
