NUI Galway 3-9 Sligo 0-13:JASON DOHERTY scored a hat-trick as NUIG cruised to a five-point win at Quigibar, Enniscrone yesterday.
Sligo were caught napping after three minutes when Doherty drilled the ball past Bryan McGovern, before Adrian Marren opened Sligo’s account.
The visitors were well on top and led 1-7 to 0-6 at half-time.
Substitute Alan Costello brought Sligo level with six minutes of the game remaining.
Any hopes Kevin Walsh’s side had of getting their first win vanished when corner forward Doherty struck for two late goals.
