News:Former Roscommon footballer Frankie Dolan was last night suspended for two months but he will be available for his club's biggest day when St Brigid's take on Crossmaglen Rangers in the AIB All-Ireland club semi-final.
The Roscommon champions, who won their first Connacht title with a dramatic injury-time goal last Sunday week, had feared Dolan might be handed a longer suspension.
Dolan was caught on camera in an altercation with a Corofin official and there were fears he could be forced to miss the biggest day in his club's history on February 18th when they take on the Armagh side who have won three All-Ireland club titles.
Dolan was called before the disciplinary committee of the Connacht Council for getting involved in an off-the-ball incident with Corofin chairman Jimmy Sice, who had come on to the field to tend to his son Gary who had picked up an injury.
Dolan, inspirational all season for St Brigid's, attended last night's hearing in Ballyhaunis where he faced a charge of bringing the game into disrepute.
It is believed he accepted his culpability in the incident which was broadcast on TG4 during their live coverage of the match.
Tomorrow's meeting of Central Council, which will discuss the future of the International Rules series, will take place in Croke Park at midday. It will be held in camera and a statement from the GAA is expected sometime in the afternoon.
Central Council has the power to pull the plug on the series.
