Dublin club St Patrick's Athletic yesterday completed the signing of a third player from the Irish Youth World Cup squad, following the decision by central defender Colin Hawkins to join Pat Dolan's side.

Galway-born Hawkins made an appearance with Tranmere against St Patrick's in a recent friendly match but, after weighing up his options, the player has opted for the Richmond Park club, which has already captured his international team-mates Thomas Morgan and Trevor Molloy over the summer months.

"I'm delighted to sign Colin, he had an outstanding tournament in Malaysia and he is the right age to fulfil his potential and develop into a top class player," said Dolan, who also welcomed the inclusion of Morgan in the panel for the forthcoming under-21 international match against Lithuania.

Dundalk, meanwhile, have confirmed that the board are waiting for a number of potential investors in the club to decide whether or not they intend to become involved with the 1995 league champions.

A three-year plan prepared by a local firm of business consultants has been "circulated to potential investors," said a statement from Oriel Park yesterday "who are at present considering the document". The statement made it clear that no further comment would be made until it became clear what course of action those potential investors had chosen to take.

The club has amassed considerable debts after a disappointing campaign last season but manager Eddie May is optimistic that he will be able to strengthen his squad over the weekend with two new players, one from the Irish League, expected to sign for the coming season.
