Ulster MF Semi-final/Derry 1-11 Monaghan 0-1:Derry strolled to a facile victory over outclassed Monaghan in the Ulster minor semi-final at Casement Park yesterday.
The final tally of 1-11 to 0-1 tells the sorry story of a lamentably one-sided game as a cuter and stronger Derry side booked a spot against Tyrone in next month's final.
Playing with the wind in the first half Derry led 0-5 to 0-1 at the interval thanks to points from Lee Moore (two) and captain James Kielt (three). Monaghan were wasteful in front of the posts and recorded seven wides to Derry's four, with at least three of them from close range and unchallenged.
Derry led 0-7 to 0-1 when Declan Mullan found Gavin McGeehan inside and the big full forward hammered home the game's only goal.
