MOTOR SPORT: Eugene Donnelly and Paul Kiely in a Toyota Corolla WRC scored their first Circuit of Ireland win and their third major rally victory of the year yesterday in Donegal.
It was a dominant victory, especially following the exclusion of Derek McGarrity and Tim McNulty's series of early stage punctures.
Donnelly took it easy over yesterday's Donegal stages but his winning margin was one minute 36 seconds.
In the battle for second between Ford Focus WRC drivers Eamonn Boland and Austin MacHale, the former kept his cool to take the runner-up spot by just two seconds. Gareth Jones was fourth overall and McNulty made a remarkable comeback from 15th to finish fifth.
