TIPPERARY accountant Pat Donovan didn't win the Scratch Cup at his local club last Saturday, but he did have the satisfaction of recording a hole in one at the 181 yard fifth with a sweetly hit five iron.

The big prize went to Ballybunion's big hitting Sean Quinlivan, who had a five under par total of 137, four shots clear of Irish international Bryan Omelia. However, Newlands player Omelia could at least look back on the establishment of a new course record of 67, beating the previous score of 68 held by another international, Pat Murray.
