DORANS PRIDE who suffered a bout of collic that almost proved fatal last December, made a winning debut over fences on his reappearance at a crowded Limerick yesterday.
Always prominent, the seven-year-old gelding edged to the front on the run to the second last fence and after the chasing Consharon fell bringing down Ontheroadagain, Shane Broderick forged ahead on Michael Hourigan's charge to beat Le Ginno and Crehelp Express.
A delighted Hourigan said afterwards: "He did everything Shane asked him and jumped well. I saw that horse's insides laid out last December and I really thought he was gone. He will run next in the Drinmore Chase at Fairyhouse."
Three Brownies, off the track since finishing sixth behind Rough Quest in the Aintree National last March, landed the featured Murphy's Irish Stout Munster National with a gallant display of jumping under Conor O'Dwyer.
Alter edging past front-running Lisselan Prince over the fourth last the Strong Gale gelding kept up the momentum in bold fashion to hold off the well supported favourite, Lord Singapore, by three lengths.
