Top chaser Dorans Pride will make his reappearance in the Guinness Kerry National at Listowel next Wednesday before switching codes to run on the Flat next month.
Michael Hourigan's 10-year-old, twice third in the Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup, will run in the Ladbrokes Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh on October 2nd, provided he acquits himself with credit under top weight in next week's Grade Two Chase.
The trainer said of the chestnut, a moderate eighth to See More Business in last season's Gold Cup: "The horse is well and the horse will run the Kerry National as his first target and we will see how he is after that.
"I will discuss a jockey with his owner Tom Doran on Saturday morning, but Paul Carberry should be available to ride him.
"Then I have got Cesarewitch in mind for him, which is about a fortnight after the Kerry National.
"He has got 7st 10lb and he proved his well-being after the Gold Cup last season, beating good horses at the Curragh. He has got a good handicap mark on the Flat."
Quizzed as to Dorans Pride's seasonal objective, Hourigan added: "We will play it by ear and see how my horse is, but Cheltenham is there in the mind."
Trainer Noel Chance has confirmed that his Cheltenham winner Looks Like Trouble is on target for the £100,000, James Nicholson Ulster Champion Chase at Down Royal on November 6th.
Looks Like Trouble won three races in-a-row last season including the SunAlliance Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
Chance said yesterday: "Looks Like Trouble is in great shape and it could be that we will have a number of runners at the meeting.
"Novice chaser Let's Be Frank, who won seven races in England last season, may go for the big £20,000 Isuzu Chase and we may also have a runner in one of the maiden hurdles and the bumper."
