YET ANOTHER fine bowling spell by Owen Butler and a good all round performance by New Zealander David Cooper gave Old Belvedere a comfortable five wickets victory over CYM in their Lewis Traub Insurances Leinster Senior League game at Cabra Oval yesterday.

CYM made a totally inadequate 140 for nine in 49 overs, with Butler doing the early damage and finishing with figures of three for 32 from 13 overs. But the role played by Cooper was even more impressive for after a damaging four for 32 in 12 overs bowling spell he also contributed a matchwinning 65 including eight ours with the bat as Belvedere eased home in 39.3 overs to go top in section A.

In a rehearsal for their second round Cup game in two weeks time, Rush enjoyed an impressive fourwicket victory over Clontarf at Rush. Chasing Clontarfs 203 for Rush achieved their target with five overs to spare. Their main rungetters were Colm Doyle and Cyril McGee, with 65 and 42 not out respectively.

Playing only their second game of the season, Dublin University made light of Railway Union's disappointing total of 134, with Paddy Lee making an excellent 63 not out as he steered the students home to an eightwicket victory at College Park.

In section B, inconsistent Malahide had one of their better days when they shocked YMCA, who lost by 47 runs at Malahide. Brian Gilmore (68) and Damien Ryan (60) were among the runs in the seasiders score of 203 for 7. Gilmore proved his all round - worth when he captured five wickets for 30 as YM were dismissed for 156.

A century by Jason Molins failed to save Carlisle who went down by 15 runs to Pembroke in a high scoring game at Sydney Parade. Pembroke made 240 for eight with captain Peter Davy playing his part contributing a fine 101 and the Carlisle effort ended at 225 for eight.

Leinster maintained their rich batting form, scoring 215 for five off 50 overs against North County, who were shot out for just 89 runs at The Nevett. Johnnie Byrne was in scintillating form with the bat remaining undefeated with 91 while his younger brother Peter rowed in with a fine six for 41 bowling spell.
