Rowing action in Ireland this weekend centres around the Lagan Scullers head of the river tomorrow, and the New Ross double bill of a marathon tomorrow and "mini-head" on Sunday.

Further afield, the Seville Cup tomorrow and Sunday has a strong Irish representation, with three Irish crews in the team cup event, Sam Lynch in the single sculls, a coxless four of Noel Monahan, James Lyndsay-Finn, Gearoid Towey and Niall Byrne and a coxless pair of Neville Maxwell and Tony O'Connor.

Off the water, the new Director of Coaching should be chosen by mid-March. Last weekend's meeting of the executive of the Irish Amateur Rowing Union trimmed the list of applicants down to three, and they will be interviewed by the International Rowing Committee before a decision is made.
