A DOUBLE header for Glenanne over the weekend against Monkstown on Saturday in the league and at home to Trinity on Sunday in the quarter-finals of the Leinster Senior Cup should see them move a step closer to the St Patrick’s Day cup final.

Trinity are not expected to cause an upset but Glenanne’s trek to Glenageary’s Rathdown is a different prospect.

Rory O’Donoghue, the Monkstown coach and Glenanne stalwart for many years, knows a little about the Glenanne psyche and doubtless, Monkstown will be well prepared for their visitors potent mix of skill, pace and aggression.

The home side, in fourth place on 19 points are, however, unlikely to rise up the table even if they pull off the unexpected in beating Glenanne, as third-placed Three Rock Rovers travel to Kilkenny on Saturday.

Not withstanding their pre-Christmas penchant for slipping up, Rovers should have a handy win on the road.

Second-placed Pembroke face a doughty Fingal, who have the facility to cause any team problems. They also get Pembroke after a deflating 3-2 loss last week against Belfast’s Instonians in the Irish Hockey League.

Elsewhere, Corinthians entertain Railway Union in Whitechurch with their South African internationals Darren Cronje and Darren Kimfley in tow.
