DROGHEDA United came from behind to beat the Munster Senior League side, Rockmount, at United Park on Saturday night, but really the home side should have won more easily had they put their chances away.
With a strong wind at their back, the division one leaders dominated the first half hour and although Colm Tresson hit the woodwork they just could not find the Cork team's net.
Then in the 38th minute, against the run of play, Rockmount broke away and from a cross into the area Alan Falvey beat goalkeeper Jody Byrne to the ball and Alan Martin was following up to find the net.
Drogheda hit back within four minutes when player manager Anto Whelan came up for a corner kick on the left, got his head to the ball and in the goalmouth scramble which followed, Noel Reid forced in the equaliser.
Drogheda went in front three minutes after the restart when man of the match, Tresson, got on the end of a cross from the right by Dixi Nugent, who had come on as a substitute for Drogheda at half time.
The visitors seldom looked like making a game of it after that and indeed Noel Reid should have made the game safe for Drogheda on at least three occasions.
