Drogheda United can extend their lead at the top of the Premier Division to six points for at least a few hours this afternoon if they can beat a Bray side whose lack of consistency has again been a problem this season.

Fresh from their Uefa Cup win on Thursday night, Drogheda travel to the Carlisle Grounds with a couple of injury difficulties but Dan Connor is expected to start despite a recurrence of a hip problem while Brian Shelley (shin) is more doubtful and Graham Gartland is suspended.

Bray have Paul Dunphy (wrist), Paul Caffrey (appendix) and Colm Tresson (heel) laid up and Andrei Georgescu (ankle) and Gary McCabe (hand) facing fitness tests.

St Patrick's Athletic will still be without Colm Foley, Joseph Ndo and Gary O'Neill for this evening's visit of UCD, and John McDonnell must figure out how best to rejig things after Thursday's hammering by Odense.

With just nine points from their last eight league games, they run the risk of slipping out of the title race.

UCD look a promising proposition for a team in need of a win as their loss of form has been as dramatic as the home side's. A run of 471 minutes without a league goal was ended by Conor Sammon's penalty against Bohemians and Pete Mahon can add Peter Hynes to his striking options.
