Drogheda Utd - 2 Derry City - 0: Two second-half goals saw Drogheda United finally break their duck when easily overcoming a poor Derry City at O2 Park last night.
After a scoreless first half Alan Reilly gave Drogheda the lead eight minutes into the second half, firing home from 20 yards.
And 18 minutes later United sealed the points when Glen Lacey's shot was deflected past a helpless Ciaran Kelly in the Derry goal.
It was Drogheda who made all of the running in the opening half hour as Derry looked completely out of sorts. A Reilly free as early as the second minute was blocked as it careered goalwards by Declan O'Brien, the Drogheda striker.
A minute later it was Reilly once more from 35 yards this time who saw keeper Kelly parry the ball to safety and Stephen Gray following up could not force the ball home .
Derry's Alan Murphy fired narrowly wide from 25 yards on the half hour but Drogheda finished the half strongly when Mark Rooney and O'Brien both went close to opening the scoring.
