Waterford Utd - 1 Drogheda Utd - 3: Drogheda United moved into second place in the Premier Division after a convincing win at the RSC, condemning Waterford United to a fourth successive league defeat.
After two minutes, Drogheda took the lead thanks to a terrific 25-yard volley from Barry Molloy, who raced on to a loose ball from a Danny O'Connor free-kick.
The visitors doubled their advantage 15 minutes later. Mark Clifford lost possession on the edge of the penalty area, which was seized on by Drogheda's ex-Waterford striker Andy Myler. Myler fed John Lester who fired a cracking shot against the inside of Connor's right hand post and into the net.
On 25 minutes, it was over as a contest as Drogheda made it 3-0. Lester's corner was headed on by Steven Gray and Myler was quickest to react, firing home from close range.
Waterford struggled to gain any sort of foothold in the game, but grabbed a consolation with six minutes remaining when Kevin O'Brien fired home from just inside the penalty area after good work by Pat Purcell.
