Longford SFC/ Dromard 1-8 Colmcille 2-4: Dromard won the Longford football title for the second time at Pearse Park yesterday.
Despite getting a goal after six minutes when Anthony Gormley directed a Declan Farrell shot to the back of the net, Colmcille managed just two scores from play over the hour. While Francis McGee hit the Dromard goal in the 13th minute, his side trailed at the break, 2-2 to 1-4, after Pádraig Murtagh converted a penalty for Colmcille in the 29th minute.
It was a struggle for Colmcille in the second half and all they could manage was two points through Paul McKeon (free) and a 45 by goalkeeper Gavin Tonra. Dromard added four points through Francis McGee (2), Cian Mimnagh and Donie Conefrey - the latter getting their final score in the 47th minute.
