DUBAI, in the Arab Emirates, will be the venue for a two-day celebration of Gaelic football, hurling and camogie at the end of this month with the GAA president, Jack Boothman, and the well-known racing and GAA personality, Michael Osborne, on the guest list for a programme of events organised by the Dubai Irish Society.

The players, mostly from Ireland who are domiciled in the Middle East, but with a smattering of locals and English, Scottish, Australian and New Zealand nationals, will be making up the numbers.

Two tournaments will be played on March 27th and 28th. Football is on the first day, with hurling on the second. Two exhibition camogie matches also scheduled.

The football tournament will feature nine-a-side teams. Eight teams have entered for the football event and four teams of 13-a-side will play in the hurling competition.

Boothman will present trophies to the winning and runners-up teams. Many of the players and spectators will attend the Dubai Classic race on the following day.

Osborne, formerly on the Irish Horseracing Authority, was also chairman of the Kildare GAA supporters club for a time and was instrumental in bringing Mick O'Dwyer to train the Kildare football team. He is the chief adviser to the race organisers.
