GAA News: The GAC are expected to confirm that the rearranged Leinster hurling quarter-final between Dublin and Westmeath is to be the curtain-raiser for the Wexford and Kilkenny semi-final at Croke Park on June 13th.

This means the winners of that match will have to play Offaly the following Sunday (June 20th), potentially at Croke Park again before the Meath and Laois Leinster football semi-final.

All this rejigging was brought about by the delay in resolving the sixth substitute allegation made against Westmeath in their victory over Kildare, which has since been dismissed on a technicality.

The qualifiers draw on June 13th will also be disrupted. "We have been in touch with the GAC and we hope they can accommodate us," said Leinster Council secretary Michael Delaney. "We're snookered and are just hoping that there are no draws as we are running such a tight ship."

There is a knock-on effect for the counties involved. For Offaly, it gives Brian Whelahan and Rory Hanniffy an extra week to recover from their respective injuries, but it will disrupt club championship fixtures.

"It means there is uncertainty," said Dublin manager Humphrey Kelleher. "The Dublin County Board had to rearrange the local championship. That type of uncertainty doesn't just affect my team but hundreds of other people on club teams throughout the county."

The dual status of Dublin's Conal Keaney will also be stretched to the limit, as he could have to play five weekends in a row, starting this Sunday for the footballers against Westmeath.

"And some players complain about having to play two Sundays in a row. He is an exceptional talent but he isn't Linford Christie," said Kelleher.

Kelleher's main focus is on tomorrow's round of club championship matches in Dublin as he anxiously waits to see if all his players come through unscathed.

Although adamant that he is not looking past the challenge of Westmeath, Kelleher did take in Offaly's annihilation of Laois in Tullamore on Saturday. "The 10-minute delay before the match disrupted Laois (Offaly returned to the dressing-room), while I'd say Offaly went in, sat down and probably had a cup of tea.

"Also, I think Laois got their tactics wrong by playing high balls into their forwards. Mick O'Hara cleared up everything, he looked like he was just picking apples from a tree. He was my man of the match. "

Both Dublin and Westmeath will be pleased to know O'Hara will be picking his apples in San Francisco for the rest of the summer as he decided to take time out from the Offaly hurling panel to do some travelling. "I hate missing it but I will never get a chance to do something like this again, what with having to get a job and all that," he said.

Wexford defender Keith Rossiter has broken his hand and will miss the Leinster semi-final against Kilkenny on Sunday week.Rossiter, who sustained the injury playing for his club, Oulart-the-Ballagh, in a county championship match last weekend, will be out of action for five to six weeks.

Also out of contention for the semi-final is MJ Furlong who is recovering from a broken hand received during a recent challenge game against Cork.

Manager John Conran also has concerns over Paul Codd, who is receiving treatment for a pulled muscle in his chest.

Tipperary will announce their line-up for Sunday's Munster championship semi-final against Waterford tomorrow night. The major doubt surrounds Lar Corbett who has an ankle injury, while centre back David Kennedy is out with a fractured thumb.

Dublin football manager Tommy Lyons is sticking to the policy he adopted in the National League by not naming a team until just before the game. A line-up will be given in for the programme, on Thursday, but it's unlikely to be definitive.

It's not clear who will be named at centre back with Collie Moran, Darren Magee and Peadar Andrews in the shake-up. Senan Connell seems to have recovered from a dead leg, which forced him to miss three training sessions.

Westmeath midfielder Rory O'Connell will miss the Dublin clash. He was sent off against Offaly on May 23rd following an incident with Paschal Kelleghan and the GAC will decide his fate next Monday.
