Women's Football Round-up: Just one game went ahead in the championship yesterday with Dublin proving too strong for Laois at Westmanstown, winning the game by 0-8 to 0-6. Like a host of other sporting events yesterday, the women's championship fell foul of the weather with Meath's clash against Kildare among the ties called off.
Dublin's season could be back on track after a battling two-point win over Laois, who won the Division Two National League title recently.
Dublin, who suffered relegation to Division Two in the league this year, have struggled to find form this season.
They are without a number of players who were regulars over the last few years and their chances of retaining their Leinster title this year had been written off. They showed signs of improvement yesterday, however, and sent out a warning to the likes of Meath and Kildare that they don't intend handing over their Leinster crown easily.
Mary Nevin was almost faultless from frees and kept Dublin in contention throughout, but it was a brace of points by Sinéad Ahern in the closing stages that pushed the Leinster champions to victory.
