Senior internationals Damien Duff and Robbie Keane have been named in Brian Kerr's Republic of Ireland under-18 squad for the UEFA Youths Championship play-off second leg with Greece at Tolka Park on May 14th.

The game is all ticket and the presence of Duff and Keane is once again set to fill the Drumcondra venue to its capacity as they did for the recent B international against Northern Ireland when several thousand spectators were turned away.

Ireland lead 1-0 from the first-leg in Varia last month and have every chance of progressing to the finals in Cyprus in July. The incentive to qualify is heightened by the fact that the top six of the qualifiers in Cyprus go through to the World Youth Cup finals in Nigeria next year.

Accompanying Duff and Keane into the new 18-player panel are West Ham United's Alex O'Reilly, who impressed in goal in the under-21 game against the Czech Republic, Alan Quinn, who made his debut for Sheffield Wednesday last weekend, and Jason Gavin of Middlesbrough.

Italian international Attilio Lombardo has stepped down from his position as player-manager at Crystal Palace in the wake of the club's relegation.

Chairman Ron Noades and coach Ray Lewington will take charge of team affairs until the end of the season, with Palace still having three games left to play.

Lombardo was only brought in to take charge of the side on March 13th when Steve Coppell stepped aside.

He will continue as a player at the club, who are hoping to bring in former England coach Terry Venables to take charge if prospective chairman Mark Goldberg completes his planned £30 million takeover.
