Schools Rugby Leinster Junior Cup/Terenure College - 12 St Mary's College - 5: Towering Terenure College number eight Robert Duke became king for a day with two tries that knocked St Mary's College out of the competition at Donnybrook yesterday. Duke's cameos came at the end of each half.
First, fullback Gavin Douglas's astute running cut St Mary's open. Wing Maurice Walsh had no choice but to knock down Mark Hyland's final pass. Duke charged to the line from the tap penalty.
St Mary's responded in fine style when Darragh Fitzgerald, who had moved from nine to 10 when Tim Ryan retired injured, stole a ball deep in Terenure territory and shifted the ball to centre Eoin Moriarty, whose show-and-go narrowed the gap to two points.
But in the last five minutes Duke gathered from a lineout and stretched to plant the ball on the line.
