Dundalk 1 Bohemians 2:TWO GOALS in three minutes helped Bohemians to victory against Dundalk at Oriel Park last night in front of a crowd of 1,300.
An own goal by Aiden Price looked to have earned Dundalk a point but they were stunned when Ger O’Brien beat Peter Cherrie from 25 yards in the 83rd minute before Anto Flood sealed the win for Bohemians two minutes later.
Bohemians named Aiden Downes on the bench after the 23-year-old signed amateur forms earlier in the day. With Ian Foster completing his Uefa Pro Licence course in the UK, Darius Kierans took charge of Dundalk.
After six minutes a long ball by Bohemians’ Liam Burns caught Dean Bennett and Cherrie napping, a corner was conceded and from Killian Brennan’s cross, Price knocked the ball across the face of goal for Christy Fagan to glance home.
In the 34th minute Bohemians’ Price looked to have handled in the penalty area but no penalty was awarded.
Dundalk’s Mark Quigley and Marc Griffin went close inside the opening five minutes of the second half and goalkeeper Barry Murphy then had to tip O’Brien’s inadvertent header over his bar. Dundalk’s equaliser arrived on the hour. Gaynor sent in a vicious cross which flew past Murphy; Griffin wheeled away in celebration but the final touch looked to have come from the head of Price.
But Bohemians finished strongly with O’Brien and Flood scoring from long range.
