RACING:ED DUNLOP is hoping for better luck in Hong Kong with Red Cadeaux when the five-year-old bids to go one better than his agonising defeat in the Melbourne Cup.

The Newmarket trainer reports Red Cadeaux to be on course for the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Vase over a mile and a half at Sha Tin on December 11th after he was beaten a nose by Dunaden in the Flemington showpiece.

“He’s going to Hong Kong next for the Vase, that’s exciting,” Dunlop said.

“He’s come out of the race really well. We’re very proud of him, but it was a frustrating one.

“It was a great experience and we’ll be going again for the Melbourne Cup if we have the right horse, maybe Red Cadeaux, and hopefully we can go one better.”

Dunlop’s worries about the bug bites Snow Fairy got while she was in quarantine eased after the filly exercised on Kyoto racecourse, Japan, ahead of her bid to land back-to-back victories in the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup there on Sunday. Dunlop reported the filly to be in good shape after she done a mile canter on the turf course. “We were a bit concerned about the bug bites she got at the quarantine, but it’s much better today, so I think she’ll be okay.”
