John Dunlop relies on Nasheed as he bids for an upturn in Classic fortunes tomorrow

John Dunlop relies on Nasheed as he bids for an upturn in Classic fortunes tomorrow. The trainer, whose well-fancied pair Claxon and Lucido disappointed in the Vodafone Oaks and Derby respectively last weekend, yesterday withdrew Alabaq from tomorrow's Prix de Diane Hermes (French Oaks) at Chantilly (live on BBC2, 3.35 p.m.).

His chosen representative, to be ridden by Richard Hills, won a listed race at Newbury on her reappearance last month.

She is joined by Godolphin's French 1,000 Guineas third Calando (Frankie Dettori) and the John Gosden-trained Newmarket maiden winner Apple of Kent (Kieren Fallon) in a field of 14 for the extended 11/4-mile contest.

Among their rivals, on ground officially described as soft, are French 1,000 Guineas second Karmifira and the first four home in the Group One Prix Saint-Alary - Cerulean Sky, Juvenia, Visionnaire and Louve.
