Finian Dwyer (Celbridge Driving Range) won the Boyne Links Society's first outing of the winter season at Laytown and Bettystown last week. Dwyer shot a 68 to beat Jimmy Heggarty (Spawell) by one shot with Foxrock's David Lavell taking third place on a countback. Peter Lawrie was best of those on 72 in fourth place from Nigel Howley (Black Bush) and Leslie Walker (Dundalk).

The amateurs' nett was won by Gerard Byrne of Edenderry. Six handicapper Byrne returned 38 points to win from one handicapper Robbie Cannon (Balbriggan) , Mark Staunton (Ballinasloe), Terry Lilly (Slade Valley) and Des Scahill (Cill Dara). The team prize went to Lavell who partnered Kevin Hughes of Ballinascorney and Eddie Nelson of Headfort with 48 points. The next outing takes place at Laytown and Bettystown on December 15th.

Meanwhile, Harry McKinney (European) beat Eddie Condren on the break of a tie after both players returned 35 points in the East of Ireland Alliance at the European Club. Peter Lawrie took third place on 34 points from Sean McSherry.
