With the problems over his move from Galway resolved, Alan Murphy will make his league debut for Derry City against champions Shelbourne this evening as Gavin Dykes looks to build on what he feels was a strong performance at Richmond Park last Friday night, where they drew 1-1 with St Patrick's Athletic.
The City manager has five more players available to him but Clive Delaney is still suspended while Gareth McGlynn is out injured and Seán Hargan is doubtful with a thigh strain.
Shelbourne will again be without Tony McCarthy or Wes Hoolahan but Ollie Cahill is expected to start in place of either Ger McCarthy or Ger Rowe. Dave Rogers, back from suspension, looks set to play in central defence with David Crawley retaining the left-back spot.
Dublin City and Longford also welcome back players that missed the opening game of the season through suspension. Graham Gartland, Brian Byrne and Seán Dillon come into contention for Longford while Dublin City manager John Gill has additional options including Jason Colwell, Philip Hughes and Thomas McGauley for this evening's match at Tolka Park.
Meanwhile, Brian Kerr yesterday added West Brom goalkeeper Joe Murphy and Hearts right back Alan Maybury to his squad for next Wednesday's friendly international against the Czech Republic at Lansdowne Road. Murphy replaces Nicky Colgan who has been forced to withdraw from the panel due to a knee problem while Maybury benefits from the shoulder injury that has sidelined Steve Finnan in recent weeks.
Though Steve Carr is expected to start next week the call-up raises the possibility of a third international cap for Maybury, the 25-year-old former Leeds United defender who has now firmly established himself in the Scottish Premier League.
The Dubliner made his debut along with the likes of Damien Duff, Mark Kinsella and Robbie Keane in the Czech Republic six years ago but has played just one more game for Ireland since.
