SULLIVAN’S DESERVED this win, although it took a late try to put the issue beyond doubt. The visiting forwards had the better of the exchanges and Armagh won little ball in the first 15 minutes.
The Holywood team’s reward were two first-half tries to take a 10-7 interval advantage. The first came when quick ball along the three-quarters allowed winger John McMaster to outpace the opposition to touch down. Then forward pressure led to big number eight Alex Newton crashing over
Just on half-time Chris Colvin intercepted a pass and ran the length of the pitch to bring Armagh back into the tie. Andrew Magowan added the points and levelled after half-time with a penalty.
Sullivan appeared in control, but Armagh fought back. But an intercepted pass dashed their hopes when McMaster crossed again.
Sullivan next face Wallace High.
