Galway 3-29 Antrim 0-10: Galway qualified for the All-Ireland quarter-finals with a facile win at Pearse Stadium on Saturday, but there are still more questions than answers surrounding Conor Hayes' side. Galway did all that was asked of them, but the challenge offered to them was well below standard.

It was necessary, for the game to have any meaningful purpose, for Antrim to make the wind count in the first half. The interval scoreline of 2-13 to 0-7 in Galway's favour tells its own story. Niall Healy and David Tierney got the goals, with Tierney also adding another one for good measure in the second half.

Ger Farragher shot 12 points in the course of the game, eight of them from placed balls in the opening half.

Perhaps the most encouraging return to form was from corner forward Damien Hayes. He fired over six points, three in either half, from play after failing to score against Laois and doing little in a challenge against Offaly in the interim.

Antrim managed just three points in the second half and were always out of their depth. Their defence was in trouble from the start and, aside from full forward and captain Jim Connolly, they had no edge up front.

"We have got to regroup and have a go next weekend against Laois," said Antrim manager Dinny Cahill.
