Nemo Rangers won their 11th Cork football title with a convincing win over Carbery in a one-sided final at Pairc Ui Chaoimh yesterday. It was their first success since 1993 and they join Lees, now a defunct club, at the head of the roll of honour. Nemo played with the wind from the start and established a 0-9 to 0-2 interval lead with Cork star Colin Corkery accounting for 0-5. Any hopes of a Carbery revival died in the 43rd minute when Nemo pounced for the game's only goal. Corkery played a high ball into the danger area where man of the match Alan Cronin fisted home from the edge of the square for a 1-10 to 0-3 lead.
Carbery rallied briefly with three unanswered points from Kieran Daly, Pat Connolly and Fachtna Collins, but two quick scores from David Niblock and Cronin underlined Nemo's superiority.
