Swede Johan Edfors was the shock winner of the Quinn Direct British Masters at The Belfry - and is suddenly a leading candidate for a Ryder Cup place.

The 30-year-old, who grabbed his first European tour title in China in March, came from four shots back to win the £300,000 first prize by one with an 11 under par total of 277 as the overnight leaders collapsed.

Joint second were fellow Englishman Gary Emerson, Scot Stephen Gallacher and another Swede, Jarmo Sandelin.

Paul Casey, the overnight leader, took a 76, US Open champion Michael Campbell a 74 and Darren Clarke, third with a round to go, a 76.
