Ernie Els is having a re-think and may yet enter next week's Accenture world match play championship in Arizona.
The South African left the event off his original schedule and did not plan to go to America until a week later, but his management company spokesman Martin Hardy said today it was now "50-50" whether he changed his mind.
Despite having won the World Match Play at Wentworth a record seven times, most recently last October, Els has a terrible record in the World Golf Championships tournament and a year ago was knocked out in the first round by Welshman Bradley Dredge.
The official draw for the 64-man event is on Sunday and the world number four has until then to decide. Brett Wetterich is already out injured, bringing JB Holmes into the field, and there is also a doubt over Arron Oberholser.
Els has been at his Wentworth home this week after finishing third behind Tiger Woods and Martin Kaymer at the Dubai Desert Classic and then sixth in last week's Indian Masters.
In Dubai he was the long-time leader, but then needed a closing birdie to catch Woods and instead hit his second shot on the par five into the water and took six.
