ENGLAND WILL return to the scene of their 2003 World Cup triumph when they travel to Australia for two Tests next year.
The sides will meet at Perth’s Subiaco Oval on June 12th then again a week later at Sydney’s Olympic stadium, the same venue where England beat Australia in the World Cup final.
“It will be great to see our old nemesis, the English, back in town,” Australian Rugby Union chief executive John O’Neill said in a statement yesterday. “There have been two classic encounters against England in Sydney over the last 10 years. We had the Centenary Test in 1999 and the Rugby World Cup final in 2003.
“I have no doubt the Test next June will also be one to remember.”
The Australians will also host Fiji in Canberra on June 5th and Ireland in Brisbane on June 26th as part of their preparations for the Tri-Nations. The schedule for the Tri-Nations is expected to be released before the end of the month.
