COLLEGES' GAME/England Students 42 Irish Colleges 9:THIS GAME, which was originally scheduled for Kingston Park, Newcastle, was switched late afternoon to the all-weather Druids Park in Gosford.
Ireland started particularly well. They won a penalty which was scored by Conor Murphy in the fifth minute.
England’s Phil Burgess went over the line for a try, leaving the score 5-3. In the 10th minute Ireland were awarded a penalty as a result of an England infringement,which was well taken by Murphy.
Some strong defending by Ireland was not enough for the strong England pack when they drove over the line, with Burgess scoring his second try.
Ireland were awarded another penalty in the 20 minute, which was again converetd by Murphy.
England were awarded a penalty that was converted by James Crozier, leaving the score at half-time 13-9 in favour of England.
England quickly put a succession of sores on the scoreboard, with converted tries from Evan Stewart, Mark Wilson, Mark Humpries and Sean Morris.
