EURO 2004 QUALIFYING:Sven-Goran Eriksson has admitted he is desperately hoping that the self-confessed most difficult spell ever in his private life is finally coming to an end. Eriksson attempted to put all the concerns over the contents of Ulrika Jonsson's autobiography to one side as he guided England to a comeback to defeat Slovakia.

At one point, it looked decidedly worrying for the England coach. His team were trailing 1-0 and the serialisation of the book was not yet out.

However, by the end of the night, his side had turned it around to win 2-1 and it had transpired that the book was - at least at first sight - little more than a damp squib.

While there are further revelations to come in the next few days, Eriksson could have been excused for thinking that the worst is now over.
